The Department of Computer Science & Engineering at JBIT has been at the forefront of churning out software engineers with a high caliber of technical expertise.

CAREER

Computer engineering is a discipline that integrates several fields of electrical engineering and computer science required to develop a computer systems. Computer engineers are trained with complete dedication in the electronics engineering, software design, and hardware-software integration.

Computer engineers are involved in many hardware and software aspects of computing from the design of individual microprocessors, personal computers and supercomputers to circuit design. This course is creating the computer professionals according to the contemporary industrial requirements. Presently this department is running the following courses under the affiliation with ‘Uttarakhand  Technical University’.

Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) course in Computer Science & Engineering

This course is aimed to create the highly skilled engineers in the field of the computer science. This field of study includes the vide subjects including the history of computers, algorithms design, software engineering, database management system, java programming, compiler design, computer graphics, operating system, application software, artificial intelligence, network security and ethical issues. The dedicated teaching approach is imparting education through the combined mode of theory and practical to make the engineers highly skilled and capable to look after the challenges of the industry.

To enlighten the students with a rich knowledge database in data structures, computer networks, compiler design & its application in problem solving using advanced tools and techniques. Students are practicing on the skills to make them competent and confident through the practical training.

The department of Computer Science and Engineering has well-equipped academic labs consisting of around 500 updated computers for research in computer graphics, computer vision, databases, data mining and knowledge discovery, distributed systems, mobile and wearable computing, natural language processing, networking, operating systems, programming systems and real-time multimedia. The computer facilities include a shared infrastructure of HCL and IBM multiprocessor file servers, internet server, data server, a student interactive teaching and research lab of high-end multimedia workstations,

Programming Lab: CSE Programming lab is spatial and well equipped with the latest HP and HCL systems of wide space. It provides a wide approach in programming and enables to apply knowledge in latest computer algorithms, compiler design, computer networks, and artificial intelligence. Guidance is provided to the students by a dedicated team of expert faculty members.

R & D Lab: Latest equipments used for Research and Development have being installed the computer lab so that students can work on the live projects. Various research tools are installed like NS2 simulator, NAM simulator, MATLAB etc. to give the feel and environment for research activities.

Web Technology Lab: Latest software for building online projects have been installed to give the hands-on experience to the students.

Multimedia Lab: Lab is equipped with graphics workstations and servers and all latest software’s used for building animation based projects, software like 3D Studio Max, Maya, Adobe Software etc. have been installed.

Computer Center: This lab is used to regulate the smooth workflow of all the other laboratories. The lab is equipped with latest configuration systems and is managed by highly dedicated technical staff that troubleshoots problems of all the lab attached to it. The lab is used to access internet and download research journals like IEEE, ACM, Springer etc. This is to motivate students for Research and Development and for this they all have been provided unique username and password to maintain security at all times. Students spend most of the time apart from their classroom training in the computer centre to enhance their knowledge and improve their technical skills.
