Seminar on Rain Harvesting

With the projection of creating awareness and flow of perpetual knowledge, Civil Engineering Department conducted a Seminar on Rain Harvesting on 9th February 2019. Head of Department Dr. Sanjeev Gill elaborated the entire process by giving an impactful presentation in the seminar. He made the
students aware about the importance of water by describing its pivotal role in contemporary socio-economical conditions. He explained the methods by which rainwater could get collected and harvested for various activities.

According to him, rainwater harvesting is a technique of saving and collecting rainwater for the purposes of future use such as agriculture, etc. These
methods are very important for people living in low-rainfall areas. In the shortage of regular water supply, they can continue the cultivation of seasonal
crops with rainwater. Whenever rain occurs, rain water can be stored in man- made pond or tank. Rainwater can be collected in natural reservoirs or artificial tanks. He further explained that rain water harvesting is a way of capturing and
storing water during rainy periods for use in times when there is little to no rain available. It ensures sustainability of the water being the vital resource for
life. The major objective of the seminar was to make the students aware about rain water harvesting and its methods .
