Coronaviruses (CoV) is a new health hazard that was discovered in the year 2019 and has become so widespread that it has become a global threat to all the citizens of the world.

The health hazard disease has been declared a pandemic by WHO (World Health Organisation) for the global citizen on 11 March 2020. Coronavirus infection is transmitted between people to people and animals and people.

What are the symptoms?

Most people infected with Coronaviruses show symptoms within five to six days.  The common sign that is visible in case a person gets infected with Coronaviruses includes respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, and breathing difficulties including shortness of breath.  These infectious difficulties can convert into more acute health problems which can lead to the death of the person as the symptoms convert from infection to pneumonia, and severe acute respiratory syndrome, leading to kidney failure.

The standard recommendation to prevent the spread of infection includes regular hand washing, and carefully covering the nose and mouth when sneezing and coughing. With more death reported Coronaviruses has become the infection talk of the world with more than 7800 deaths as reported the number of fatalities surpassed the fatalities figure of the past SARS outbreak which was also originated in china itself.

According to the report by WHO the disease COVID-19 is now widespread. There are various recorded positive cases of Coronaviruses in the countries of the Middle East. Also in the US, there are almost 2,000 reported cases of Coronaviruses. The reported cases of Coronaviruses in countries like Iraq and Iran reached so much and 11,000 cases are reported outside of China, nearly 81,000 confirmed cases globally.  WHO has declared that Europe is the new epicenter of Coronaviruses.US announced a national emergency of Coronaviruses and sanctioned over 50 billion dollars which are opened up for public health and safety.

How long to stay at home

A person needs to stay at home for a minimum of 7 days if that person is diagnosed with the symptoms of Coronaviruses.

In case the person is living with another person showing symptoms of Coronaviruses then the person needs to stay at home for a minimum of at least 14 days starting from the day the very first person in the family of the person at home started showing symptoms of COVID-19.

In case you are living with someone who is aged 70 years and over or someone who is having conditions of pregnancy or person who has not so strong an immune system should try to find some different place for self-isolation and self-quarantine to least two weeks.

India stands at a much better place in terms of the number of positive cases of Coronavirus infections all over the world. Preventive measures are taken over in India, schools, and colleges are closed for three weeks, and restrictions on public gatherings for the sake of social distancing and self-isolation and preventive quarantine.

  5. Avoid close contact with a person suffering or showing symptoms of Coronaviruses
  6. Avoid social activities that include going to cinema halls, pubs, restaurants, theatres, etc.
  7. Avoid and bypass events that involve large public groups.
