Although doing an MBA degree is always good but you can seek the example of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and others as they all have done big and great not on the basis of their educational qualifications but with their engineering passion.

College campus placement is a twofold effort first by the students and second by the Training and Placement Cell of the college. If you are very optimistic that you can crack the interview with the visiting company then you should appear in the interview. If you intend not to study further then you can opt for a job.
Go for an M.Tech degree
In case you love studying and want to polish your career with a touch of a higher qualifying degree then M.Tech is good for becoming an aspirant in research. M.Tech opens up two options either to become an assistant professor in an engineering college or be observed in a research and development wing of an organization in the profile of a scientist.
Also doing M.Tech is good unless you crack the GATE exam and get into a good college where you get a stipend for doing M.Tech which is a regional engineering college in India or some IIT and IISC.

Doing an MBA makes you a manager in the company in Technical profile

For an engineering graduate software industry is not a bad choice so being a mechanical engineer does not limit you from getting a job in a Software Company.
